Today
we were on the road and made several stops along the way. We left
Sioux Falls, South Dakota early and headed east to cross the
Minnesota state line. We turned south and stopped in Sioux Falls,
Iowa on our way to Omaha, Nebraska. In Omaha, we had lunch at
Spaghetti Works and walked the Historic Old Market Area and Heartland
of America Park. We were impressed with Omaha. Crossing a
pedestrian bridge in the park, we saw a “Cole” graffiti tag down
by the railroad tracks, so of course we climbed down there to get a
few pictures.
We
drove to Lincoln, Nebraska to see the State Capitol Building and the
University of Nebraska. We headed south to Topeka, Kansas and got
dinner on the road. We thought the drive through Eastern Nebraska
and Kansas was much nicer than we had expected. It must be the
central and western parts of the states that people describe as such
a miserable drive. We have driven through worse.
In
Topeka, we stopped to see the State Capitol Building which was under
construction. Then we went east to Kansas City where our hotel is
for the night. Along the way, we stopped in Lawrence to see the
University of Kansas. It was very nice. As you can see, we enjoy
seeing the various state capitols and large universities.
Tomorrow
I plan to get some good KC BBQ!
