Today
we took it a bit easy and spent most of our time in and around Rapid
City. We went to Bear City USA, which is a drive through animal park
that has, as you might have guessed, a lot of bears. We had lunch at
Teddy's Deli and did some window shopping in Keystone. On our way
back to Rapid City, we stopped at the Dinosaur Park. It is a city
park on a hill that boasts of having the best view of Rapid City.
The kids had fun but the view of Rapid City was not very impressive.
In
Rapid City, we took the president statue tour. The city has
commissioned a statue of every past President and placed them on
street corners downtown. All of us enjoyed it. It is a great idea.
Even though the town is not that special, we saw many folks taking
the tour and generating pedestrian traffic for local shops and
restaurants. Raleigh, are you listening? We had dinner at the
Firehouse Brewing Company. It is a neat place that used to be the
town's firehouse and is decorated like it.
After
dinner, Cara and the kids went to the pool and I did some shopping
for provisions for the next leg of our trip. We might be outrunning
a storm headed this way. We will see if our luck holds up.
