JUNE 30: GRAND TETON to YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK

Miles: 166

In the morning, we left Jackson Hole to complete the northern part of Grand Teton NP and start exploring Yellowstone NP. In Teton, we visited Signal Mountain and Jackson Lake. We drove from there to the southern entrance to Yellowstone.

In Yellowstone, we spent most of our time in the geyser basins which is in the southwestern section of the park. We saw Old Faithful erupt in the Lower Geyser Basin and the Grand Prismatic Springs in the Middle Geyser Basin. Cole was especially excited about seeing a geyser.

After exploring those areas, we drove back to the center of the park and Lake Yellowstone. We checked-in to the Lake Yellowstone Lodge. As I was parking the car, I came close to running into a bison. He was almost as big as the Tahoe I was driving. We had dinner and desert at the lodge and then took a walk along the lake shore. After buying a couple souvenirs at the General Store, we saw two more bison grazing near the lodge.

I will need to post this after we leave Yellowstone since there is no cell phone coverage, internet access, television... nothing.
